This class is all about getting funky and learning how to add signature fills to your bass lines!
We’ll discuss how to develop fills over classic funk grooves so that you feel comfortable sprucing up a groove and identifying some of the fills that have made your ears perk up while listening to records.
My hope is that you leave the class with the ability to practice that stank face and add the funk.
The class will feature:
A discussion of common funk chord progressions and what scales/chord shapes to use when adding fills
Understanding funk rhythms and knowing how to place fills within a groove
Identifying the funky double stop
Ways to visualize fills across the fretboard
Playing to a single chord, 2 chord vamp, and 12 bar funky blues
Exercises and practice strategies
You’ll receive a PDF at class time that will outline the discussion and contain TAB/Notation for practicing later.
The class will take place via Zoom and will run approximately 90 minutes. When you purchase this ticket, you’ll receive a downloadable invite with the zoom link, plus a reminder email the week of.
Once the live class has concluded, all ticket purchasers will receive a link to the zoom recording to re-watch the class or view it at your leisure.
